Gas Blanketing System (NBS) Or Inert Gas Blanketing System
(IGBS)
GBS
is installed on storage tanks, equipments, and pipelines
to prevent damage due to overpressure or vacuum, resulting
from either pumping fluid in or out or ambient temperature
changes. GBS provides pressure relief by appropriately
breathing in or breathing out inert gas like nitrogen,
carbon dioxide, and dry air.
This eliminates the possibility of damage to
storage tanks, equipments, and pipelines.
GBS
avoids the contamination of stored fluid due to breathing
in of atmospheric air containing dust and other
particulate matter. It also greatly reduces possibility of
oxidation of stored fluids, which may be hot.
GBS
helps conservation of the fluid stored as continuous
blanketing of inert gas at a slight overpressure reduces
the evaporating losses of stored fluid. This helps making
operations cost efficient.
GBS
reduces the environment pollution as no vapours of stored
fluid are released to
atmosphere.
This makes environment safe for personnel.
Last
but not least, GBS protects equipments from corrosion of
inner surface as moist air is kept out.
